I'm moving in 2 weeks and currently have comcast and I'm paying an outrageous price of $55 for standard cable. Well I was considering swtiching to DirecTV. Here is what I've found:

1) DirecTV - HD-DVR with 3 free months of HBO/Starz/Cinemax + over 130 HD channels + 3 months Free HD access. Free upgrade to HD-DVR ($43.99 for first 3 months then $49.99 thereafter)

2) Comcast HD Triple Play - inlcludes digital HD Cable, phone service, and internet. Includes on Demand and over 10,000 movies + 1000 HD Choices ($114.99 for 12 months. HD-DVR is additional $9.95)

Which is the better deal here? I currently get my phone/internet DSL service through AT&T pay roughly $50-$60/month. Anyone have experience with both and which service is better??

Definitely get the Direct TV. I have Comcast soley due to the fact that they monopolized my area in Chicago. You really have to put in effort to lock in legit service and get working gear. It took me a couple of months to get a working modem! I wish I could get Direct TV..

Order Comcast high Speed internet, Add a splitter to the inside line ( from your modem ) and run it to your TV. You will have FREE cable and will only be paying for Internet.

Every single place i have lived in, I have done this. Why? Well 60% of the time the tech who came out to install internet asked, Do you have cable? I said, no. Well you do now!

The promo for comcast internet is normally 29.95, but after that it is 61.00 just for internet!!!! So i get free cable and pay for internet so that comes out to about 30.00 for each.

Comcast has a definite better price. I've only used DirectTV and Dish Network. I'd say go whatever the price range is since you're going to be pretty much getting the same quality channels.

Comcast is notorious for poor customer service and monopolizing.
