Hello all!
I'm thinking which to buy...
What can you say about both?

do you want a blue ray player or not?

i personally like the controller for the 360 more and i enjoy their online platform more, but ps3 comes with the added blue ray player...

they both come with their own titled games, so pretty much look at the games....

I think that you also must consider build quality. I know far too many Xbox owners who have had their Xboxes die on them. The PS3 is a much more solid console.

I actually prefer XBOX 360's online setup much better. If you want to play games online than the 360 is where I'd go. Also, for me, the library of games available for download on the 360 is much better as well. Really it depends on your taste in games. Take a look at the library for each and decide which has more games that you like.

PS3 is better but it does have a few cons.

Pros:
Free online (not the fastest)
Blu Ray
Bluetooth
You can pop in a hard drive if you need more space. Xbox 360 hard drive is proprietary.
Plays most of my divx and mpeg movies, when I first bought it, it played MP4 as well but not anymore.
It's a media player, so I can watch movies and listen to music off my media server

Cons:
Harder to Hack
The Price. Should be aboout $350.
Updates take forever to download and install. LittleBigPlanet took like 2 hours in install.
Web Browser is not good
This thing gets hot.
New version only has 2 usb ports.

A few extra comments, most models of ps3's have wifi built-in, except for the first 20gb model.

I definitely agree with the statement about the titles:
360 - Left4Dead, Forza, Gears of War, Fable, halo...just a few come to mind
ps3 - little big world, gran turismo, resistance, heavenly sword, metal gear solid, etc

Also another note on the controllers - 360 controllers (i think?) do not come with the rechargable batteries, like the controllers with the ps3. Charge cords for ps3 can be found pretty cheap - they're just the same kind of connection found on cameras (male mini USB B-type), so if you didn't want to go with the branded recharging cords, you could just use something you have sitting around. Also most bluetooth headsets are capable of hooking up to the ps3 without problems to use during games, but be sure to do your research to make sure there are no compatibility problems (like moto H700 requires a reconnection with every restart)

So the ps3 seems to be more stable and versatile (and with less ads on their free online service), both systems cult-like in game culture,

...but i would guess that i am fairly biased as i have just recently been pondering the same thing and decided to go with the ps3, since it seems to be more of a better system, given the blu-ray and stability...

I have both. I prefer the 360.

If you're a gamer, go for the 360. Much better choice of very popular games not found on the PS3. Ever hear of gears of war? Halo? not available on the PS3. The online gaming is WAY better on the 360. You can buy a stand alone blu ray player with the price difference between the PS3 and 360. Although if you're looking for a blu ray player the ps3 might be one of the best.

The new xbox interface is awesome, they keep improving the console. Lots of great family fun games downloadable in the xbox arcade. Plus you can watch netflix videos in HD and download just about any movie or tv show in HD. The issues with hardware failure and the 360 aren't crazy anymore. The first batches of xboxes had lots of issues that they resolved. I had a major problem with my xbox that I got when it was released. I've since replaced it and had zero problems.

The xbox also offers the best of both worlds in regards to recharging. You can use rechargeable AA batteries or regular AA batteries. You can also buy rechargable battery packs.

I forgot another HUGE feature of the Xbox 360. If you have Windows media center, which is standard in vista premium and higher and you can get it with XP too, the 360 will act as a media extender. It's a little tricky to setup, but once it is, it works great. I can view my entire photo library and listen to my entire music library through the XBOX 360. All the files live on my home pc. I also have an HD tuner on my home pc so if my TiVo is recording two shows, i can watch over the air tv through my xbox 360. I think the PS3 has some of these features built-in but with windows media center it goes a little bit further. If you don't have windows media center, you can always plug in your ipod via usb and listen to music.

i have both consoles, the ps3 spends most of it's time OFF, why? because there are no games. and if the games are on both console, i get it for my 360 because the 360 controller is much better. the layout and placement of the analog sticks are much more comfortable. the design and layout of the PS controller was awesome, say back when the ps1 came out, and addition of the analog sticks was a big step for console gaming, but when the original 360 introduced having the analog sticks placement different, it just felt much better.. you figure ps3 would have made such a better effort in the controller instead of adding a "gimmicky" and novelty feature such as six axxis. hell we even lost rumble until recently.

but again, its the games. aren't these video game consoles? if it was an argument for a multimedia hub, then i would pick the ps3 because having bluray is sweet! that is actually the sole reason I bought it for. and having the small library of sony only games were a bonus, hell i already have half of them.. MGS, now whenever gran turismo comes out, i guess thats all of the games ha

its nice the ps3 online service is free, but you can see how inferior it is compared to xbox live, but can't complain too much since its free.

graphics seem better on 360 still, we can no longer use the excuse that ps3 came out later, its been a while now, and it still sees that way. this is based on gamespot's comparison screen shots, while playing you probably wont notice.

the thing that gives the 360 a big negative is the hardware failures. hell yea i got hit with it, TWICE. but i still keep coming back. again it's for the games, if the 360 didn't have all of them, i probably would just have not kept on dealing with it. as long as i didn't have to pay for the replacements..

all of the older 360s which were basically ticking time bombs for RROD should be gone unless you buy used on craigs. Get a falcon and jasper and you shouldnt worry too much, if at all.

a big negative for both consoles.. these damn things still don't play MKV which will complete it for me!
