Let this thread serve as a place to come and review and reflect on some great smokes. I know I am always looking for suggestions on what to try, so let's do it!
Last night I enjoyed an Arturo Fuente 8-5-8. It was probably my best smoke in a long time. Very rich, deep flavor without being too powerful. A very sweet aroma as well.
I suggest the double-guillotine cut for a fair amount of draw. Bullet cuts, IMO, are too small and do not allow for an enjoyable smoke.
Arturo Fuente 8-5-8: definitely a recommendation.

The Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 is a great cigar.
I also really like the Hoyo de Monterrey.

If you are into the flavored cigars, try the Kahlua cigars. They have Coronas that are sweet, but also have a White Russian and a Mudslide, along with a few others.

Kahlua cigars infuse the exotic coffee liqueur flavor of Kahlua with a select blend of mild Nicaraguan filler, Sumatran binder and a smooth U.S. shade-grown Connecticut wrapper.

Macanudo Portofinos are some of my favorites. They're just the right size, and they have a realy nice flavor.
Right now I've got a Dominican Cohiba I'm just waiting to burn when the time is right.

Cojimars are also big ups for flavored cigars. I am partial to the small Cohibas in the little Tin. Just enough for as often as I smoke.

I haven't smoked a Cohiba or Romeo Y Jullieta that I haven't liked. Oddly enough, I like the R+J number Ones about the best (it's by far not their priciest).

It was one of the absolute best tasting cigars I have had the pleasure to smoke!
Wholesome aroma, very flavorful taste, and at 7" long, it lasted us about an hour and a half! Definitely a recommended smoke.

I just had the extreme pleasure of enjoying one of the new Java Wafe cigars made by Drew Estate, the same makers who roll Acid cigars. I must say, I've never seen a wafer cigar before. It's flat, rather than round, but the flavor is great. It is not an especially large cigar, but it burned for well over an hour, and I didn't even smoke the whole thing. It's a dark cigar with a very full flavor. Cocoa dominates the taste and smell of the cigar, though it is not overpowering. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys and is interested in trying new, interesting cigars.

I absolutly love the drew estate cigars, especially the acid line. Cold infusion tea is my favorite. In my humidor, I still have a few Lars Teten cigars. Fuente is also a great cigar to smoke.

Yeah, it smoked really well, actually. I did have to relight, but that's just because the farking phone kept ringing. :ranting:
It was really easy to draw. It wasn't rolled too tightly but just tightly enough to keep a good ash on the end.

Two weekends ago had some wonderful Montecristo Vintage '93 Club Cabinet No. 10 at my bachelor's party.
It was the right choice of a cigar for everyone since it was on the mild - mild/medium side, was the perfect size (5.62 x 42), and came in fine condition out of the box (they were actually a bit oily and the remainders in my humidor have remained the same). Nice and smooth, with an easy draw and great burn rate.
I picked it up in the deal here, and would buy again.

Alrighty, I'm no aficionado.. nor do I know any proper terminology :O so forgive me..
A friend of mine gave me a CAO Criollo yesterday and I had it today after finals. It was actually a very nice smoke. Rolled just tight enough for a good ash on the end. It was a bit stouter that I am used to, but over all it made for a good smoke. It drew well, with my homemade V-cut(damn it, i couldn't find my cutter :() Overall pretty darn good.

Saint Louis Rey Serie A
I cracked open a box of 02 SLR A's tonight, and boy am I glad I did. One of my all-time favorites, this cigar started off with hints of cedar. About 1/3 the way through, very nice and welcome hints of tobacco came to join the party. Yum.
Then out of nowhere, loads of spice come barging in to let me know I needed to strap in for the rest of it.
Needless to say, my fingers are still recovering from the burn after nubbing this bad boy.
The construction was flawless. I tried to ash it after about an inch of lovely silver and black ash formed and I couldn't! The wrapper was a very attractive dark caramel color. Not too oily either.
Draw was perfect IMO and the aroma of the smoke was intoxicating.
On top of that, I was enjoying some Smithwick's Irish Ale which complemented it perfectly.
Maybe it's time to stock up on even more of these Habanos. I love 'em! :D

the Cusano 18.
Good call. Definitely on my top 5 list. Both the Paired Maduro and Conn. Last night I had a La Gloria Cubano Serie R. Definitely yummy. Nice even burn, great construction and just enough stregth to get a little buzz. I will be getting more of these.
Quite a few years ago I was sent a box of locally made cigars from Veracruz MX. They hadn't even been blocked; came out of the box looking sorta squarish but rounded up nicely after a little warming up. They beat out most other Cubans I'd had, before or since.
I can't remember their name though, or even if they were available outside of MX.
Veracruz, has anyone had any puros from there?
A little read from SMOKE magazine on the region: http://www.smokemag.com/0399/feature.htm

You should sell me some of those OPUS X. I'll give you $8 each and some rep points.
Anyway, :ast nights smoke was a C.A.O. Anniversarie Cameroon (1998). Robusto (5X50) Probably one of the best smokes I have ever had. Smoked down to where I couldn't even hold it anymore. Box pressed too (which I love).

Nice to see so many other cigar smokers on this board.
Here is a nice site I came across that has a cigar review database

It has several reviews for hundreds of cigars. It's worth checking out if you are unsure about a cigar.

I'm don't know too much about cigars, but I need to find a pack for a bachelor party that are good and reasonably priced. I've been looking at the "Nestor Reserve Maduro" sold at Cigars International (Link (http://www.cigarsinternational.com/prodDisp.asp?item=CB-N76554-B)). The reviews are great, but unsure if I should trust them. Anyone tried this cigar before? I'd love to hear what you thought of them, or any other deals you are aware of for decent cigars.

For good and decently priced cigars, look no further than the Arturo Fuente line. I have a box of their Curlyhead Deluxe Maduro's (http://www.jrcigar.com/index.cfm?page=cig_view&itemcode=AFCUD3) myself and just love them. Let me know if you need any more help.

My suggestion comes with a bonus.
Buy a box of Torano 1916 Cameroon Churchhills (25) for $82 and get a free 12 cigar "masterpiece" sampler @ jrcigar.com ($5 shipping)
These cigars rated 8.83 @ top25cigars.com, and is one of the best sub $4 sticks out there. They are medium to full flavor. You will not be disappointed.
I'm placing my order as we speak.

Fuente's are excellent, but if you want a real treat, lay your hands on some Davidoffs. I recomend the Grand Cru #4 (personal preference) for the smoothest full-flavored smoke imaginable. Just touching the wrapper feels good. I think you have to purchase from a licensed dealer, but well worth any hassle and cost involved.:yummy:

I would not recomend a nestor. For a decent smoke, at a reasonable price, I think others were right in suggesting fuentes. I would step up from the curlyheads though and snag anything in their Hemingway series. If you are buying them in a store, just feel them to make sure 1. they aren't too dry and 2. they aren't rolled too tight. Enjoy!

A few weeks ago, my wife's cousin wanted to buy me a cigar for her birthday. I didn't want to pick out anything more than a few bucks, and they didn't have the Javas that I've recently come to enjoy so much, so I picked up an Acid Blondie. It's a small cigar with a light colored wrapper, so I wasn't expecting too much.
I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the full flavor and the longevity of this cigar. As soon as I removed it from the plastic sleeve, I was struck by the spicy aroma that reached my nostrils. The smell was so complex and interesting that I couldn't wait to light up. Once I did, I was not disappointed. This cigar never let me down with it's spicy, yet light flavor. On top of that, I smoked it for a good hour. I'm a slow smoker, but that's a long time for a cigar this size. I would highly recommend picking up one of these next time you're looking for an inexpensive cigar ($3-$5) that you can carry in your pocket without attracting too much attention.
BTW, while I do enjoy the Java Wafes, I would not recommend the cigarillos of the same brand. They are super sweetened to the point of being gummy on the lips. You'll feel like you're smoking a Twizzler.

I have never had the pleasure, but can only imagine that if Davidoff can do what they currently do with a dominican, than a cuban would be out of this world.

Diamond Crown Maximus made by JC Newman Cigar.
This is a rather pricey (ok, mid pricey) cigar at around $12 for a small sized one.
Cigar was great! Really one of the best I've had in a long time. Rather dark, but not a maduro. Very full flavored, well balance and STRONG. It honestly gave me quite possibly the best buzz I've ever had from a cigar, and I usually never get affected by cigars.
Anyway, highly recommended. 9/10

I'm kind of in the Dog House as it is. She apparently wanted to spend time together last night, and I took a nap instead. I'm getting too old. Not really in the doghouse I guess, she was just a little annoyed.
Not to hijack this thread anymore... but sometime we could also meet at RFD (regional food and drink) on 7th street. Owned by the same people as Brickskeller but with 100 or so less beers. Plus, it's closer to the metro than BSKLR and right down the street from my work.
Also, aren't you originally from Ohio? Which football team do you back?

That's too bad. RFD's food is decent. Somethings are normal bar food, some things are pretty darn good. Their spinach artichoke dip is seriously the best I've ever had. Although, I never order it because that isn't man food.
I will probably go to RFD for some of the football games (read Chiefs games) that are only on the NFL network, as I'm too cheap to pay for that.

OK, review for today. I had "the Edge" cigar. It's a 6" plus torpedo that actually had a warning "for experienced smokers only, smoke only while sitting down" so I knew it was going to be stong. This was possibly the strongest cigar I've ever had. Not nearly as good as the Diamond Crown Maximus, but not bad either, and for $6, actually pretty darn good. Very full bodied, very strong, and a good thick smoke that allowed me to actually get a few smoke rings on my balcony during Ernesto right now.
Really, the warning wasn't a novelty to get you to buy it, they meant it. I smoked it standing up, but I could see where most people need to sit down.
Mixes well with Clipper City Gold by the way.
7/10 - 7 instead of 6 because it is relatively cheaply priced.

I had the last of my 2005 Punch Rare Corojo Rothchilds last night. SO so so good. I have a box of 2006 PRCs that need another 3 months or so of age before I get into them. Absolutely wonderful cigar if you can find one.

If you are looking for something that will really kick your ass, go to your local shop and pick up a La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel Maduro (review (http://www.top25cigar.com/reviewdatabase/product.asp?pkID=9294&showprod=yes&catpkID=719)). Rule of thumb is NOT to smoke this on an empty stomach, and let me tell you it ain't just sissy talk! I had one at my shop awhile back thinking I was a big, bad cigar smoker and didn't have anything to eat beforehand. It was definitely a strong cigar while I was smoking it, then I stood up and felt dizzy. I thought "OK, not that bad." Went to my truck to go home and almost :vomit:. Had to run to the nearest Wendy's to get something in my stomach. Felt like crap the rest of the night! Again, make sure you eat something right before you smoke it.
I had the last of my 2005 Punch Rare Corojo Rothchilds last night. SO so so good. I have a box of 2006 PRCs that need another 3 months or so of age before I get into them. Absolutely wonderful cigar if you can find one.
These are great cigars as well. Try the PRC Pita next time, fun size and great flavor.

Alright, I'm looking to some of you experts to help me find a humidor/ an online cigar store.
Here is what I am looking for. Humidor between 25-75 cigars, but probably more like 50-75. Would like to stay under $100 preferably around $50. I like ones with glass in the top, but I'm not exclusively looking for that.
As far as an online cigar store. Obviously I'm looking for a good price, but I also want them to have a good selection. I want to be able to get Diamond Crown and DCM cigars there, but if I can't, I can get them locally. Mainly, I'm wanting to know if anyone carries DC and DCM for less than $12 per small robusto.
Apart from DCM, it would be nice to get some cigars and the humidor in one order so I can save on shipping. I know jrcigars is a good place, but I didn't quite see anything in my price range that I "had to have."
Any suggestions or recommendations welcome. My timeframe is flexible, but I'd like to buy before Christmas.
I guess I should say, I'm not being lazy and looking for you guys to do my shopping for me, but I'm looking to see if you guys have any FHE with any of the online places.

Have you checked out the place in Pentagon City, Old Virginia Tobacco? Their prices are surprisingly good and the guys that work there are awesome. Here's their pricelist:
http://fujipub.com/oldvirginiatobaccocompany/cigara-z.html
It looks like they have three different sizes of Robusto for under $11.
They only carry expensive humidors, unfortunately. I was patient and found a nice on on Craigslist.

Good idea. Thanks.
Interesting, they aren't listed on JC Newman Cigars as a retailer for DCM. Anyway, they say they have them, and 9.50 is better than $12. Thanks again.

I should note a couple of caveats to my post. First, it seems that Old Virginia only maintains an absolutely consistent stock of their Davidoff's, IIRC. Everything else is kind of hit or miss as to whether they have it in stock. But, I'm sure that they can special order for you. The guys there are pretty helpful, so you could give them a call to see what they have.
Second, the craigslist suggestion might not help if you want a humidor right now. I waited at least a month before I found a good one in my price range. It doesn't look like there are any listed now.
Back on topic: I love Fuente Hemingway Short Stories. A little bit of great flavor in a little stick. A perfect 20-40 minute burn.

Alright, I'm looking to some of you experts to help me find a humidor/ an online cigar store.
Humidors (http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/) (digital hygrometer included w/every humidor, $20 value). Seems like this (http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=HUM-BH6) or this (http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=HUM-BH4) one will suffice. Anyone using the stupid little black plastic foam thingy from the 1800s to humidify their humidors is out of the loop. Use beads (http://heartfeltindustries.com/Beads.htm)!
Good online cigar stores (ones that we can talk about here ;)) are:
ShowMeYourAsh (http://showmeyourash.com)
Famous Smoke (http://www.famous-smoke.com/cigars/index.cfm)
Tampa Sweetheart (http://tampasweetheart.com/) (especially for Fuentes)
Cigar Bid (http://cigarbid.com) (be careful!!)
Any more questions, just ask!

Ok, next up....Padron 1926 Anniversary No 9 (5.1X56). It was gifted to me by my brother for my Birthday. Very good. Probably the most solid, well built cigar I have smoked to date. I also noticed it has an extremely silky wrapper. Very nice. Started a bit harsh, but mellowed quickly. The first quarter was just OK, but it came to life at about 1/2. Really spicy and woody, but not enough spice to make you put it down. It finished off very mellow and I smoked it down to about 1/2" left with the help of a well placed toothpick. Definitely have one of these after a big meal, because I did catch a pretty solid buzz from it.
Was it good? Yes, it was great, however, there is no way I'd pay the $13-$40price tag for these. Definitely a great smoke, but a little rich for my blood. I'll stick to the Padron 3000s.

One of my top 3 non-Cuban cigars. Flavor that can't be matched. I agree on the price too! I have been gifted a few, never purchased them before. The 3000s are good too, especially in Maduro.

70/70 is the old "traditional" way of doing things. I and many others have found that our cigars smoke a little "wet" and uneven when stored at those conditions. Most people I know now, myself included, use 65% RH. This yields a much better and more even burn. Anywhere between 62-70 temp. and RH is fine.

Cool and thanks. I went ahead and bought the 65% this morning as I was going to be out of the office all day.
I really don't even need a hydrometer thingy with these either do I? I mean, the humidor I bought has one, but a nice digital one would be better.

I recommend using one. Beads need to be "re-charged" every once in awhile when they dry out. All that means is you spray them with distilled water. Depending on where you live, temperature can spike drastically too if you do not have a temp. controlled humidor. A rather small investment for the peace of mind knowing your cigars are being stored properly. I recommend using the Western Caliber III (http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=ACC-CALIBER3) or the new adjustable one (http://www.cigarmony.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=51&products_id=372).

Last night's smoke. Puros Indios Robusto. Not impressed. It was a typical 'yard garbage'. Construction was just 'okay' and the one I had was really veiny and required a lot of work to keep it burning. Started out pretty smooth, but not creamy at all like the above mentioned Cusano 18. Not realy a bad flavor, just not really any good flavor. This would probably be an good cigar to have around to hand out for free to folks that don't smoke cigars.
Like I said- nothing really terrible, just nothing great either.

That's what I'm doing with the Thompson brand cigars that came with the sampler deal I got in on.
Side note, my humi should be here today, I've got the distilled water, beads, and cigars ready for it!
I hope it's decent quality, it's supposed to be spanish cedar on the inside, but we'll see. It was $40 shipped on ebay, but they usually go for around $60 or more shipped on ebay, I just got in on one ending overnight.

Part of the sampler pack from cigar international. The band looked really cheesy, so I smoked it first not expecting much. It was one of the absolute smoothest smokes I've ever had. A little nutty, but in a good way and the flavor was just good, don't know how to describe it. I think I'm going to get this sampler again just for this smoke (and cause it's a dang good deal).

Had the Fonseca Serie 'F' Robusto (5.0"x52) from the cigar international sampler last night. It was crap. Mild in strength, but bitter in taste. It got a little smoother halfway through, but that didn't last long and the bad taste returned. All in all the ONLY positive I can say about this cigar is the construction as it burned evenly and slowly.

Don Lino Africa robusto (don't remember the actual name, but was robusto size).
This was one of the best tasting cigars that I've had. Full flavored with coffee and toast notes with some other flavors I couldn't recognize and a little spice. A very nice smoke.
The bad... the construction was crap. The wrapper was a little veiny, but not bad, but the burn was uneven and I had to puff a little too often to keep it well lit. I was very disappointed with the construction, but overall I'd buy one again because the flavor was so fantastic.

Your best bet is to find a local cigar shop. I doubt anyone here is going to sell you a cigar since there are federal laws concerning that without a license.
Anyway, there are a few deals on here for samplers for $10 plus $5 shipping, which would only cost you $5 more than you area saying and they come with 8 cigars...

Try the cigar international sampler. There is a thread in hot deals for it.
Price doesn't make a cigar good though...
There will be some $8 cigars you don't like, and some $3 cigars you do like. Heck, there could be a $20 cigar you don't like as well. As with most items, people have different tastes.

:iagree: Also.. are your sure you want something dark and rich? For a first time smoker, you may want to try something on the mild side. Something too dark may be too harsh on you for the first time. I recommend trying Cusano 18 for a good mild cigar to start. It was my first cigar. You could also try a Macanudo, try to keep away from dark cigars for now.. look more towards lighter ones. Personally, I enjoy both lighter and darker cigars, however, it took a couple of dark cigars for them to really grow on me. I actually have one friend who absolutely hates anything darker, richer cigars and will only smoke mild cigars. So, seriously, try a lighter cigar first, then if you enjoy those, try the darker ones.
Like greerzilla said, try the C.I. sampler. I enjoyed that. It actually had a variety of cigars taht ranged from Mild to darker/richer.

EDIT: Wow.. i didn't know I could use "Robusto" and "Maduro" so many times in one paragraph..
Robusto is a size (typically 5X50), not a Wrapper (like Maduro).
FYI- When you see the discription like Maduro (there is more to the Maduro wrapper than just the fact that it is dark. That is a whole other topic though), Connecticut, Natural, Candela etc. -those discriptions refer to the wrapper only.

I have never met a Fuente that I didn't like. I know what flavor you are talking about, and the only time I experienced that was with a Padron 3000 Maduro. I later learned that it was kept in horrible conditions for quite some time.
Are you sure the cigar you had was kept in optimal conditions its entire life?
Nice avatar btw. :D

I am pretty certain about the conditions. It is the same place I always buy from and have never had a problem. However, I have had random cigars that I smoke pretty regularly (Punch Rare Corojo for one) that I have had a few duds. I will probably pick up another one of these because I am a big Fuente fan. We'll see what happens next time.

That looks nice if it's big enough for you. It would be big enoughf or me, I'm just saying.
Anyway, check out the ebay link I sent a page or two back. Check that seller's other items. If you don't care about the ashtray and cheap cutter and lighter, it might be worth saving the money.
I recommend the guy, but everything went smoothly for me, so I can't vouch for his problem solving on ebay in case something does go wrong.

That's okay I guess. The stuff they are including maybe adds up to a $5 value. In other words those extras are cheap.
In that size and price range, I recommend getting this (http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=HUM-BH6) one which includes something useful -- a $20 digital hygrometer.
For lighters I recommend this (http://www.cigarmony.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=48_82&products_id=436) or this (http://www.cigarmony.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=48_74&products_id=444) one.
For cutters I recommend this (http://www.cigarmony.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=52_24&products_id=441) one.
And for a good ashtray, I recommend this (http://www.cigarmony.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=50&products_id=310) one.

Holy Shiite Muslims Batman!!!! $45 for a cutter?!?!
I got mine for $25 shipped on a group buy, but it is worth $45. And I am frugal in nature. Having said that, I also like to buy the best products available, and this is it. The awesomeness of it is hard to believe without experiencing it.
Once I got it, it was so fun to cut my cigars I wanted to go through them all and cut them! It is the smoothest, most precise cutter available bar none. It also doubles as a cigar holder for when you need to sit your stogie down.

I got this package http://www.cubancrafters.com/products.php/item_id/331
I am very pleased with it. Shipping was a low $6, making the total 100. I got 2 packs of cigars that sell for $29.99 on their site, and 1 pack that sells for $19.99. They are all pretty good. The cutter is cheap, but its better than nothing (which is what I had). The humidor in that package is the same as this one: http://www.cubancrafters.com/products.php/item_id/259 and I am very pleased with it as well.
It took a few days, but the humidor is doing a great job of keeping me at 70-72%, they also provided in depth instructions on setting eveything up, and they have excellent support (received reply email within an hour each time). They give a full money-back guarantee on everything and the humidor has a 1 year warranty.
I would recommend this to anyone as the perfect "starter pack" :)

I tried the Monte Cristo white that came in the last JRCigar special. It was very smooth. Smooth to the point of being almost tasteless. Granted, I prefer the fuller-flavored ones. I would not complain about them, but I would not buy a box. Surprisingly, I liked the Henry Clay. The two I got in a sampler were so nasty looking that I almost didn't want to put them in my mouth, but I read up on them. Apparently, looking nasty is how they roll, so I tried them. I was not disappointed. Lots of flavor and none of that nasty "attack the back of your throat and make you feel like you have been smoking all day" kind of thing. I also really like the Felipe Dominica C and CAO Criollo. This is my new humidor, too. http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=1c282c0e81c75c3

I had a Criollo a while back. I enjoyed it then, but recently I smoked another one and it was way way way too harsh for me. I had to put it out after about 10 minutes. Perhaps I just had a bad one.
I had a Rocky Patel Sungrown last night.. one word: Amazing. What a great great smoke. Draw was even and perfect. Enjoyed it very much. It was very flavorful. My only drawback was having to relight once. Got a phone call and had to run back inside :(. Even after the relight, it held its flavor without being too harsh. It did have a bit of a kick and spiciness towards the end and that definitely was a good ending.
Overall, I think I might have to purchase some more. Good smoke.

Anyway, I'm not sure, but I'd want something lighter and less hoppy, since the cigar is pretty mild as well. I'd think a lager or something like that. I personally don't like Corona (not due to beer snob reasons), but it doesn't sound like a bad match.

To me winter lager, and most Sam's stuff is an exception to other lagers. They aren't light tasting, and even less so for the winter version.
That being said, I'd try that as a first choice, because I love the winter lager.

I got a Monte Cristo sample in the mail today. How can I tell if it's a 'White' sample or not? Where was this cigar made? Any chance it's a Cuban? :) It's postmarked from Ft. Lauderdale. My friend has a cutter and I'm gonna smoke it with him tomorrow night. Are you supposed to burn until the cigar's just a stub? How long do smokes generally take? What is best to drink with this cigar? Forgive the noobiness. I've always wanted to get into cigars and I find this thread very helpful. Thanks Toddzilla for creating it.
http://www.top25cigar.com/reviewdatabase/index.asp?showprod=yes&pkID=512
Most of my questions got answered by this site. The sample I got is definitely a White sample - it looks just like the one in the picture.
"Released at the 2003 RTDA show, the Montecristo White is a full bodied cigar made from Connecticut seed wrapper from Ecuador. The White also strays from the standard Montecristo by featuring a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan/DR filler, straying from the all Dominican standard Montecristo's."
How can I better experience the smoke?
ToddziLLa

Are you supposed to burn until the cigar's just a stub?
You can if you want. It is called "nubbing" the cigar. If the cigar is really good, people will say they burn their fingers because it gets down so far!
How long do smokes generally take?
Depends on your smoking speed. DO NOT rush it or it will get sour, hot and taste like crap, thus ruining your experience. One puff per minute is a good rule of thumb. Smoking a cigar is a relaxing experience. If you want a quick smoke, light up a cigarette.
What is best to drink with this cigar?
Lots of people like to drink scotch, port, or a good beer with their stogies. Cigars can also cause you to "buzz" so to say due to their concentrated nicotine content. If you don't want any alcohol, drink a beverage with sugar in it like Coke, Sprite, etc. The sugar in it will settle your stomach so you won't get sick after smoking.
How can I better experience the smoke?
I often find it is not the cigar that makes the experience, rather the setting and people you are with. Sit down and relax and enjoy yourself!

Thanks for the tips! I can't wait for tomorrow night. Gonna make sure I just chill and enjoy the cigar. :)

Didn't even get to it. Had a wreck on the way home. Some girl didn't like the way the rear of my car looked, so she re-arranged it for me. I am not expecting anything outstanding from the Casa Fuente. It was gifted to me, so, I am not out anything either. I find elite Fuente stuff to be WAY overrated and WAY over MSRP-- The Opus X, Don Carlos, God of Fire and Casa Fuente. I'd rather had 2 Padron 1964 Anniversaries for 1 Opus X (since I rarely find Opus at MSRP). One exception to the rule is the Anejo Shark (#77) which I absolutely LOVE.

How nice of her to change your car's structure for you! Sorry about your accident.
The Casa Fuentes IMO are just "good" and that's it. Definitely not worth the price, but all of mine were gifted to me. Opus Xs can be just "good" or even great if you can catch a good one. The Anejos are far and away the best stick Fuente puts out. Can't get enough of 'em!

Got the CAO Criollo's that retail for about $7 in the stores for less than $3 each and I got 10 of them.
I've got a box of something else that I"ll probably win tonight. It's for the Felipe Dominicana, which I like as a mild cigar and it finishes great, but it's also a great one to give to friends since it's cheaper and not too strong.

Around Thanksgiving. Cigar.com usually gets new stuff quicker than anyone else but the prices are usually a bit higher too. Great service though. The box that the CAO Vision cigars come in is awesome. Check out the CAO website for more details. Check your local shop around the first of December. A LOT of stuf will flood into your local shop in December for Christmas. Christmas and Fathers Day usually have the highest incoming volume. This is especially true with limited cigars like the Fuente Opus X, Ashton ESG or VSG, Punch Rare Corojo (once a year-usually Fathers Day). Wow....that was a tangent....

There are too many fine cigars this world has to offer to have to suffer through a bad one. It took me a long time to come to terms with this, but don't be afraid to toss a smoke after X number of puffs if it isn't good.

My current humidor holds about one hundred, but with the box of Cohiba Havana cigars my brother bought for me from overseas I want to upgrade to a more larger showcase. Does anyone know a supplier online that sells showcase type humidors? It Would be great to plug the humidor in to an outlet so i don't have to add distilled water ever two weeks. Welcome to the cigar thread!
Depending on how much you would like to spend, there are a couple of routes you can go. If you are not getting a THC (Temperature and Humidity Controlled) humi, I suggest using Heartfelt Humidification Beads (http://heartfeltindustries.com/Beads.htm). I like 65%, but that is just me.
My favorite vendor for "regular" humidors is Bargain Humidors (http://bargainhumidors.com). If you are looking for la creme de la creme however, IMO there is none better than Bob Staebell at Aristocrat Humidors (http://www.aristocrathumidors.com/). He does custom work and I know many who are extremely satisfied with his products and services.

Hello,
Thank you for the nice welcome. The cabinet showcases look very nice, but I cannot purchase one at this time because my wife is complaining. I will definitely invest in a cabinet when I purchase my new house. Is there a cabinet that you can plug into a wall that comes with its own humidifier so that you don't have to tinker with the unit? All i want to do is smoke the cigars and not have to worry about adding water to the humidor or worry about temperature control. Thank you all very much for the advice.

I'm not sure about this, but I don't think you will find a humidity source that won't use water. :lmao:
Anyway, I'm sure you could set something up like the water foutains on refridgerator doors, but then it wouldn't be distilled water.

Some Aristocrats which I linked above come with a "Set It and Forget It" system where it controls both humidity and temperature. It requires little or no work at all to keep it maintained.
If money (or the wife!) is an issue right now, make your own coolerdor! Keep in mind that a humidor is a device which is airtight. If you can control the temperature (with your air conditioning unit in your home) and the humidity (beads), a cooler is as good as any high-end lacquered super duper special ultimate luxury humidor. For more details, read here (http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=8924).

It's all relative really. It depends on what you like and how your finances can handle it. My most expensive box ever was $450, but each box I buy averages about $160 - $220. I also know people who have spent over $3,000 on boxes, so it comes down to if you are buying to smoke or buying to collect, and how bad you want them!
The site you linked is among the cheapest out there. Not the cheapest, but some Swiss and English vendors are MUCH more expensive than that.

I was able to get a few and the guy has another whole box. They are pretty cheap, $4 per stick after cash and he said they were very good, kind of a not so well known gem right now. They apparently have the same wrapper as the Ashton VSG. Is that a Fuente brand? If not maybe he meant similar.
I think Ashton is made by fuente. I'd be interested in trying them. Are they B&M available?

Cuban cigars in the US?
I was thinking about ordering from an online site that said they can repackage Cuban cigars to be shipped to the US. Does anyone have any experience in ordering from an online retailer in regards to Cuban cigars shipped to the US? I'm afraid that when they repackage the Cuban cigars they replace them with non Cubans. I would really hate to go to Canada to buy some real Cubans.
I smoked a Drew Estate Robusto today and it reminded me of smoking Nat Sherman cloves. This is by far the sweetest cigar i have ever smoked. It's a mild smoke and sweet throughout the cigar with a little spiciness at the end.

You don't want to go to Canada.. their tobacco tax is way too high. There are places online you can buy from.. but you have to find them. I've yet to find a good one.

Guys that are noobs on CS... let's make sure SD has a decent showing in the second place vote! I already put in my vote for those I know are on SD (besides myself, that'd be cheap!).

Yesterday I nubbed down a Hemingway Classic to just over half an inch left. Today I did the same with one of the 'gars my little sis picked up for me from La casa grande co. in NY. Both great cigars, Hemingway was amazing.
Had that free torano today as well. Great cigar. Full bodied. Found it to be strongly woody and a bit nutty. Loved it.

Those are absolutely some of the best cigars the world has to offer. They command a high retail price, and they are worth it IMO.

Probably my absolute favorite. Better than about any Cuban you can find.

I can't post on Cigar Stogie for some reason. I signed up and i didn't get a activation email also. When do they start the activation process? I wanted to post yesterday. Oh well.
Any recommended smokes for this weekend?
I'm going to have a CAO Black.

I think there is a time period of up to 48 hours before you can post there. That is to help curb the influx of spam accounts we had about two months ago.

Did you use a free e-mail service to sign up? They recently stopped allowing that because there's been so much spam lately.
CAO black sounds like a winner.

Had a Fuente Chateau Fuente Sun Grown last night. Great all around stick.
Robusto size, but short at 4.5", however, it would have lasted over an hour had it not been cold. Very strong as well. Spicey with toasty and buttery flavors. Worth every penny of the $3.97 I paid for it.
It has the same wrapper as some of the Ashtons, but doesn't have the premium filler, however, it actually reminded me a bit of the only Opus I've ever had, but that could be either because I've only had a few Fuente products so far, and because I've only had one Opus so far.

I ordered the Carlito's Way Sampler from Holts last night. I don't intend to smoke it for a long time. I called a few places in NYC and they haven't seen any Opus cigars for awhile =/

Thats a GREAT samper. $$ though. You need to age that Anejo Shark that is in there. I would give it at least 6 months. I have a couple that have been sitting for about a year and a half.
