Newegg has Logitech Harmony 659 Universal Remote Control for $39.99 with free shipping. Next lowest on Google Products for a new one is $68 shipped. Thanks Selma

The truth is that while the rest of us are sleeping and get emails for these deals and have to wait till we wake to to try and post them, Selma has worked out exclusive deals with each company to directly post it on SD on her behalf. The stores often don't even know what they putting on sale until Selma posts the deal here, then they update their website and store pricing to reflect her deals. This is crazy! I specifically came on SD to post this deal and saw I missed OP by 4 hours...and it's freaking 4 am!

I have been researching Harmony remotes and, based on my research, the RF unit in the combo as Selma packaged it is not compatible with this remote control. Also, you can get this RF unit on eBay new for less than half of New Egg's price.

I had one of these when they first came out. It is a very nice remote for the money and would recommend it to anyone who needs a remote without RF. The only long term drawback that I had with this unit is that it does not do macros. This would make for a great Christmas present for a parent that wants to simplify there remote 'issues'.

Does not have skip back/forward button, according to one review (i.e. no |<< or >>| buttons).

\\Don't know what you mean by "does not do macros". Programming it to do multiple functions with one key (i.e. press "watch tv" turns on TV, DVR and audio system) sounds like a macro to me.

Those DVD and VCR control buttons are located too far down at the bottom. That means you will need two hands to operate, one to hold the remote and the other to push the buttons. Bad design.

What is the differences between this one and the TGDirect refurbdeal for the Logitech 670? I am aware that the TG Direct is a refurb and this one is not- I am asking for one of the harmony guru's to chime in here...Is it just the DVR capabilites that the 670 has and the 659 lacks? |
