Yes. You have to be a Sam's Club member ($40/year for the basic membership) in order to make purchases. Similar to Costco..

| There was a free Sam's Club entrance coupon in the last set of coupons (this past Sunday?) in the Sun Chips advertisement. They were offering a pass to Sam's Club to go check out the new compostable packaging for Sun Chips. | |

| Warehouse club case goods tend to be cheaply made (stapled and glued with plastic corner braces) pressboard or similar composite frame with very thinly laminated wood fascia (sometimes actually made of paper). Pass on case goods from warehouse clubs and visit your local garage sales, estate sales, antique stores, flea markets, etc. Full sets are not difficult to find. I've filled my home with the finest hand made and finished case goods at far below warehouse club prices. Sorry .... | |

That is a gross generalization. Yes they have cheap laminated press board junk, but they also have higher end things at a very fair price quite often. Local garage sales fleas markets etc generally call for a BIG compromise in what you want, and then there is the issue of refinishing.
Even habitat for humanity "restores" don't generally have items like this vanity set, I don't care how inexpensive something is if I don't like it or have to put 60 hours of labor to make it sort of similar kinda like what I want. Time has a value too
I have been hunting something similar to this OP and haven't found anything suitable for under 600$ big TU for the heads up

Sure you could go all those places, but once you factor in the amount of time spent looking along with the gas driving from place to place, you don't come out very much ahead. If you like doing that garage sale thing, go for it, but it's not a very good comparison.

You're right about the time factor but you DO come out VERY MUCH ahead. I've got fine furniture that will be passed from generation to generation and that would sell for multiples of what I paid whereas 95% of the case goods sold at Sams/Walmart will end up at the curb within 5 years . Hey, I'll admit it's not for everyone and I'd say most SD'ers don't care how long case goods will last. But the REAL SD in furniture is to do it my way .

You may be right that you have found some furniture gems at estate sales, but you are completely overgeneralizing about warehouse club goods as a previous poster stated. Please stop saying that crap. Costco and Sam's Club *do* sell some well-built furniture. And no, not all the 'case goods' from Sam's and Costco will be at the curb within 5 years. What a stupid thing to say.
Sam's/Costco furnishings may not be 'heirloom quality' and valued at multiple times its acquisition cost like your gems, but they usually are priced very fairly for new merchandise. This new vanity @ $299.81, which is a Sam's Club clearance price, is most likely an EXCELLENT value compared with new merchandise at any other retailer.
Some people like to buy NEW stuff and aren't able or willing to unearth, or even interested in unearthing, the needle in a haystack bargains that you are bragging about.

| This would be nice to put in the washroom in my garage. No sams club where I live though. | |

We have a granite vanity similar to this. The black granite surface has become cloudy and lost it's sheen. Any idea how to get it's luster back?
